Jonathan learned quickly, becoming proficient in the martial art within just a few short years. Such was his enthusiasm that he decided to turn his hobby into a profession, and he began work as a stunt man on several big films.
He worked closely with actor Jet Li in addition to many other big stars who required his services to perform impressive stunts and martial arts routines on screen. It seems that Quan has retired from show business, however, as he has not worked in the industry for several years now and has not been seen at any public events in recent times. In fact, his last known appearance was back in June at the Knoxville ComicCon. His reasoning for retiring completely from film work and stepping away from his passion for Taekwondo is unclear.
Though Quan hasn't worked in the business seriously for many years now, he still seems to be pretty comfortable financially, according to reports.
Little is known about how Quan spends his time now. He is unusually secretive and rarely speaks to the press about his personal life or his experiences. He is said to live with his wife, Corina, though it is unknown where they live or whether the couple have any children together. As a nipper on the set of 'Temple Of Doom', Quan studied Tae Kwon Do under choreographer Phillip Tan: something about the discipline of martial arts appealed to him, so he began studying several different techniques.
Eventually, once his acting career had died down, Quan became an assistant fight choreographer to Hong Kong legend Corey Yeun on movies like 'X-Men' for which he was also an uncredited stunt rigger and Jet Li vehicle 'The One'. Quan dipped in and out of the movie business in a variety of different roles over the years: some stunts on features here, editing on short films there, cinematography and editing one day, sound and foley work the next.
But throughout all of this, Quan never lost touch with the two roles that made him famous: Short Round and Data. He remains a shy and retiring man: now aged 42, the days of Short Round are well behind him.
Quan is mostly referred to in the past tense say, in 'where are they now' features such as this one but prefers things that way. Most intriguing, however, is Richard Donner's recent announcement of a sequel to 'The Goonies'. It's long been known that a script has been written since at least , but this is the first time Donner has addressed it — and he claims that Steven Spielberg himself came up with the plot.
The stage could be set for Jonathan Ke Quan's return to acting; when Donner was asked which members of the original cast would be returning, he said: "Hopefully all of them.

Hollywood star Walker died in a car crash in when he was Thanks to licensed tie-in materials though, we have some idea what he did after Temple of Doom. Jones enrolled his sidekick into boarding school, but that doesn't mean Short Round never accompanied him on any further adventures. In the comic, he assists Indy on a search for Atlantis, and while they don't find it, a pirate attempts to rob Indy of artifacts, leaving Short Round to race up in a speedboat to save his friend and the treasure.
He's then, much to his dismay, sent back to school. Short Round's next comic appearance alongside Indy is considered non-canon, but it's worth mentioning. Instead they find the remains of the Millennium Falcon, which in this story crashed there over years earlier.
Inside the ship is the body of Han Solo , which spooks Indy for obvious and hilarious reasons. Looking on unknown to them is Chewbacca, still alive, and the source of the Sasquatch legend. It's the only comic to ever combine Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
