Why does ebay allow these transactions to proceed when there is no chance of delivery?
Could it have anything to do with the final value fees being collected? Message 1 of All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. USPS and other carriers also have their own prohibited lists. Message 2 of Your claim lacks understanding. Message 3 of I wonder just what is it that Russians can't buy next door in Europe or Asia? Yes, I guess an original '54 Ford radio might be tough to find in Slovenia. Message 4 of In response to duggmills.
Slovenia isn't in Russia. It was part of Yugoslavia. The text below is my signature. It appears on every post I make. It is directed toward no one in particular. Unsure on the rules and regulations with ebay. I have blocked Russia because of the very long delays - the last item I sent received a refund yesterday for INR and today they repaid as it arrived.
Of course if you mean are you allowed to sell to Russia via ebay then the answer is yes, oddly as you can't sell to Cuba. I ship regularly to Russia and find it to be much less problematic than Italy, although it is important to have an understanding buyer.
One of my most regular customers is in Russia although we do all deals privately now. Nothing has gone missing, but there have been a few long delays. There being a black hole from the time parcels land in Russia usually days after shipping from Spain to Russian customs receiving them, where they can be held for a further week, we have no idea where the parcels are for that week period. When you file an insurance claim that comes with Priority Mail, you will find out that all payments, if any, are sent to the buyer after an investigation by the Russian Post and that will take a few months.
I would not recommend falsifying the customs form as one of the regs here suggested. If the package is opened, and it is found that you made up a false description it will be confiscated. I would recommend that you always check the sales history of those offering such inane advice. Just to see how many packages they have shipped to Russia. I am sure if you asked they would proudly offer an item number and tracking to a recent sale. It's always good to see who knows what they are talking about and those who are just flapping their gums.
Russia used to be a promising market for us, we insured all our packages with Shipsurance, they were the last third party carrier to offer insurance on First Class mail. They stopped offering coverage last year. We stopped shipping to the Russian Federation. Too many claims, " not received, or lost in mail. The buyers feedback rating is useless. They could be a major scammer, you would not know. Sellers cannot leave negative comments.
Opps, showed under one of my other accts. Hopefully I am stressing over nothing! I have been know to do that from time to time. I have shipped Internationally without incident under my "gingerbenmartin" id, but not under my small acct. I would never cheat on an invoice, although it has been asked of me several times not on this one. I always put what I think the item's value is.
It's as true as any other figure, since the term value is undefined in context. Cost price, the amount you'd buy another one for is a reasonable figure, as is what you think your gardener would pay you for it. Would this be as "fool" proof as I can get? The shipping calculator shows it cost The item is an electronic timer, it was priced at 45 quid including the vat and uk postage so it's not that valuable.
The only other query i have is on the post office site where i looked to get the postage info it said 'make sure you sign a customs declaration'. Daft question but what does this entail, is it something i fill in at the post office or print off on line, and what would be the best thing to put on the declaration for such an item?
Your are quite right, the Global Shipping Programme is very expensive for light items but it can be remarkably cheap for heavier items. For example, in the past week I sent:. When used appropriately GSP is an excellent service but used wrongly, it can be very expensive. Just repeating a warning I have seen a few times: Be careful when shipping to a Russian buyer. Luckily I had tracking on the parcel, and was able to prove the iteam was delivered about 3 weeks after being sent. The tracking showed where and when the item was delivered.
The case was immediately closed the day after I had posted the evidence of delivery, and the buyers account deleted! Turn on suggestions. Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type.
